Quite eccentric - as it's reputation. Had to see it to believe it, and it lived up to every expectation. Be prepared to be accosted by the owner, but give as good as you get - he enjoys it. Excellent food, good choice of real beers, and amazing wine list - as enjoyable to read as to drink.

The hotel was in an excellent location near river. The staff and owner could not have been more friendly and efficient. We stayed an extra day and both rooms we stayed in were were roomy and well appointed. Enough room for everyone unlike other hotels. Would recommend it to everyone.

We liked the quietness and tranquility of the surroundings Hotel gardens etc, Also the river Festival was on and that was a bonus, We were'nt expecting that, We have never seen anything like that before. The food was excellant the best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel, also the quirkiness of the Hotel,We stayed in the Roman room. All in all a terrific experience. Thank you

The warm welcome from the staff, and the friendly and helpful service. The varied menu was a bonus, with a well stocked bar!

An extremely comfortable large room with sofa. Plenty of space to relax. Very helpful and friendly staff who did everything to accommodate what I wanted. Couldn't have had a better menu choice - I think I could have asked for what I wanted and the hotel would have done their best to meet my request. Particularly liked the swimming pool although very few people were using it whilst I was there. Little concerned that 1984 had arrived in that there was a cctv camera overlooking the swimming pool which the notice said was there so that reception could see when the swimming pool was being used. Is the logical extension of this that there will be cctv in rooms so that reception know if guests are in their rooms or not?

Too many notices about the hotel which made it feel like an institution. The wine list was unnecessarily complicated unless you were a wine expert. When I asked for the wine list I was given 4 large folders - I just wanted a straightforward list. When I choose a wine the owner said he would not recommend that wine as it was of poor quality - why was it on his wine list? I don't think the owner appreciated that not everyone was a wine connoisseur but just wanted a fairly decent bottle of wine as a relaxing drink at the end of the day.

Large well equipped room, warm swimming pool and lovely breakfast.A Very comfortable base to explore surrounding country (Stratford,Warwick,Broadway and North Cotswolds etc).

The mattress on the bed was hard!,though this was rectified by having a mattress topper of foam sponge fitted.

Friendly staff, amusing quirkiness with the bear theme. Adequate car parking and room size, good location for visiting the Cotswolds. Unfortunately the town itself had little to offer which is sad considering its location by the river.

Food was a good standard. Dining room was good and staff attentive

Not too keen on the teddy bear theme for pretty much everything. Not really the thing for business users, more suited to families I feel. Room facilities adequate, but tv was a bit battered. I would recommend a proper chair in the room rather than a stool as this would be better and more comfortable for working.

All the personal and quirky touches - the owner obviouslky takes a pride in the business and the staff are very keen to serve. A place which was interesting in its own special way.

The bed in room 8 was quite hard!

So glad I widened my search from around Stratford-Upon-Avon to find The Evesham Hotel. It's quirky, very quirky and the owner must be a fantastic judge of character given his approach. Food was delicious and such a wide choice. Room was large, comfortable and very well equipped down to the rubber duck for the bath. Would definately go again.

A uniquely quirky experience, from the named teddy bear for each room and rubber ducks for the bath to the piles of games, toys and books that guests are free to borrow. The atmosphere, and the many staff, are relaxed and informal but the place is run with exceptional efficiency. Evening meals are quite expensive but there is a plain as well as a more elaborate menu. I noticed that on weekdays a few simple dishes are offered at a lower price, and the hotel claims to be willing to cook something outside the menu provided the ingredients are available.

The relaxed and comfortable atmosphere of staying at a friend's country home rather than being in a hotel. The warm and engaging staff, and the sense of personality in a generally impersonal world.Genuine charm; good facilities and food. The gardens create an impression of being miles away from the town, even though the hotel is so convenient for the high street. I'll definitely be back!

I'd remove the carpet in the bathrooms, as it always looks grubby really quickly and it was stained near the sink in my room. The food was very good, but a shade expensive.
